Through the evaluation of stricto sensu graduate programs (Master’s and Doctoral degrees) that are part of the National System of Graduate Education (SNPG), CAPES, the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, a government body linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC), has played an important role in the development of education and scientific research and technology in this country. The results of these evaluations, which are conducted every three years, select which programs continue to be recognized by the Ministry of Education and can thus continue to emit diplomas recognized by the MEC. The Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering (PPGEE) obtained a grade of 6 in its last CAPES evaluation.
